Why Hillary lost

Hillary mixed identity politics and a diffuse human rights ideology to replace a politics focusing aimed at improving the lot of the American people.
The lesson learned from previous elections was that the groups that supported identity politics – young, ethnic and sexual minorities – would, in time, grow more numerous. So the future automatically belonged to the Democrats.
In the ideology of globalisation the cultural elites of the left made common cause with the market elites of the right. And no one better personified this unholy alliance more than Hillary Clinton who combined close and corrupt relations to Wall Street with a political rhetoric that praised minorities.
Trump also had an ideology concerned with migration and free trade, but he focused on the negative consequences of these. An America where jobs were lost, salaries fell, insecurity increased and the American dream was crushed. A large number of Americans enthusiastically endorsed Trump’s message of “America first”
